River Falls, Wis. — August 21, 2026 — Hyper Hyve today announced ProTopv1, a new smart hive lid designed to give beekeepers clearer insight into colony health while reducing the need for frequent inspections.

ProTopv1 sits on a standard Langstroth hive and quietly tracks key conditions inside. It uses a temperature and humidity sensor, a sound sensor that listens for changes in bee activity, an accelerometer that detects sudden movement or tipping, and solar power so it can run for long periods without constant battery changes. and VOC / CO2 sensors. Data is sent over cellular, so beekeepers can check on their hives from anywhere and the hive can update the beekeeper on what all those sensor readings are indicating. The system can identify theft, queenless situations, disease, hive strength, and more, so the beekeeper is more informed and has a better idea of what must be done to keep the hive strong and thriving.

The system is built with privacy in mind. Hive data stays under the owner’s control, and Hyper Hyve does not sell individual colony information. Security features help prevent unauthorized access or transfer of ownership.

ProTopv1 is intended for both backyard beekeepers up to serious sideliners, who want earlier warning of potential issues such as swarming, queen problems, or unusual disturbances — without having to open every hive on a schedule, or a need to visit remote hives, saving on transportation costs and time.

Availability

Crowdfunding on IndieGoGo starts this Saturday 08/22/26. Early supporters can reserve a unit for $349 which includes the first 6 months of cloud service. Regular pricing is expected at $449. After the included year, ongoing service is $10-13 per month per hive.
